Viewpoint Community Foundation Brings Project Bright Start to Kasoa, Ghana

On Friday, July 18, 2025, the Viewpoint Community Foundation successfully held its signature outreach program, Project Bright Start, at the Graceland Needy Child Care Shelter in Adom Fie, Kasoa, Accra, Ghana. The outreach was led by Executive Director, Patience Akhidue and Administrative Coordinator Adewumi Opeyemi, with the support of dedicated volunteers and partners.

The initiative, designed to support underserved children through education-focused interventions, brought joy, learning, and encouragement to the children of Graceland Shelter. The day was filled with interactive activities, including rhymes, quizzes, and affirmations, all aimed at boosting confidence and promoting self-worth. A particularly moving moment occurred when Administrative Coordinator Adewumi Opeyemi led the children in a series of affirmations, such as “I am smart. I am loved. I can become anything I want to be.” The children repeated these powerful words with pride and energy.

As part of the outreach, Patience Akhidue personally presented exercise books, storybooks, and other learning materials to support the children’s education. A collection of books was also donated to help establish a mini-library at the shelter, encouraging reading and self-guided learning among the children.

“This outreach was more than just giving materials,” said Patience Akhidue. “It was about showing these children that they matter, that they are capable, and that they are seen.”

Project Bright Start in Ghana marks another milestone in the Foundation’s commitment to expanding its impact across Africa. The next edition of the project is scheduled to take place in South Africa.

The Viewpoint Community Foundation extends its gratitude to the staff at Graceland Needy Child Care Shelter, all volunteers, and major sponsor, Viewpoint Legal for their unwavering support in making the event a success.
